Sports Conditioning

Individual & Team Conditioning Programs

The law of specificity in training means that exercise needs to be tailored to each sport as well as an athlete's position to ensure maximum transfer of gains to their sporting activity. This involves targeting sport-specific energy systems, movement patterns & timining, rest periods, & more. Athlete`s need to train for sport, not the bodybuilding stage, so beyond resistance training is functional training, plyometric training, power training, balance training, agility training, acceleration training, & many more all essential to the an athlete`s conditioning program.

To further tailor a program a sports movement screen to identify areas where you lack mobility, strength, or coordintation and then use that knowledge to target those deficits with training & therapy to reduce injury risk & boost sports performance.

Those athletes who compete in competitive sports must be set on a program specific to their sport's season & major competitive dates. This is called 'Periodization'. Pre-season, off-season, & post-season all have different goals and require different training methods to be used depending on the goal for each period.

Teams, clubs & sports programs should exercise all available resources to produce the best and healthiest athletes, but many do not have a conditioning plan in place and it is left up to the individual athlete to take the extra initative to set up their own program. TAG Sports Conditioning can step in here to help coaches & clubs design, implement, & conduct team sports conditioning.
